Oshima Tsumugi is a fine 100% hand-woven silk fabric originating from the Amami atchipelago, renowned for its incredible durability, fine texture, and deep, lustrous colours produced through traditional, labor-intensive dyeing techniques like mud-dyeing (doro-zome). It often features intricate, detailed kasuri patterns and is considered one of Japan’s most sought-after and expensive materials for high-quality kimonos.
