Bronze vase by Japanese artist, Tachikawa Zenji (1925–1992). A tall, slender modernist form vase, with double flare neck and base and central faceted banding. Artist signed to base. Comes with its original tomobako box with artists red seal and a commemorative inscription.

Zenji was a master of Showa-era metalwork, who used ancient casting methods. He was specifically renowned for his contribution to the Takaoka Copperware tradition in Toyama Prefecture. His works were frequently submitted to the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) and he often worked alongside other specialists to produce high-end exhibition pieces - a common collaborator was Yoshino Takeji (b. 1920).
